CAT 2020 Master Plan

 

So starting from September we have 3 months to go. Exam is on 29th and that is when I am getting married to my long time girlfriend. So its basically a test day for all of us.

 

The exam pattern has changed. Its now a 2 hour exam and not 3. This is definitely a good news because we have to sit less.

 

We will be served the same three sections so there is not much change in the syllabus. Now there should definitely be a change in strategy.

 

Before we begin !

I hope you have given some mocks. If not then use the money you have spent and log into your IMS portal. Give at least one mock test every week from the day you came on my website to 31 October. Decide any day and analyse the paper very thoroughly. If you are not serious now then this is the best time to buckle up.

 

Verbal : This is the most important section as most of us really aren’t scoring well. Reading comprehension will definitely remain the major part. We might just get 4 RCs instead of 6 and looking at the last year CAT 2019 we can expect at least one of the RC to be really complex. So yeah we need to read a lot and get in a habit of thinking like a writer. 

 

Strategy : The time is less so the attempt has to be high. We do not have a luxury of choosing the questions now. There can still be summary type question maybe 2-3 and there can be logical order of statements. 

 

My Plan: I will share one RC in the morning on this website daily and we will discuss the solutions at night. Each one of us will simply answer the questions without giving any explanation and we will all learn this way.

Gradually I will include all possible type of questions for you to answer. 

 

 

LR/DI: This is the most unpredictable section and I personally have never found 100 % confidence in it in my 4 years of friendship with CAT. Again We might just get 5 Sets instead of 8. 3 can be from LR and 2 from DI and looking at the last year CAT 2019 we can expect at least 3 sets of easy to average complexity and 2 sets really complex. So the game is choosing the right set and practicing all possible types.

 

Strategy: The time is less so the choice of set really matters. We do not want us to get stuck in a wrong set. We do not have the luxury of wasting any time and need to survive this set. Choosing the questions now. There can still be a chance of more questions in single set which will be a good deciding factor in choosing our sets.

Each one of us will simply answer the questions with proper explanation because guess work is stupidity and only brings negative marks and I will put the explanation at night so that you have a full day time to solve.

Gradually I will include all possible type of questions for you to answer. 

 

 

 

Quant : This is the most scoring section and I personally love it. I got a 99 percentile in this section and this is what made all the difference. This time we can expect some 24-26 questions instead of usual 34 questions which hardly makes any difference but yes less questions to choose from. Accuracy is the key here and you need to pick a machine gun not a sniper this time. So the game is choosing the easy questions and then medium. Leave the tuff ones for stupid people or the extra genius.

 

Strategy: there is no strategy. Keep solving questions and do not leave any topic. Atleast know the basics of all. For those who are still scared of maths I am preparing very easy and short blogs on all the important topics. Keep reading my blogs and practice the questions. 

 

My Plan: I will share good questions from each topic and you can comment on those. I will try to post only good questions and you can take your time to solve. It doesn’t matter who comments first we should be able to just understand the solution at the end. 

 

 

Apart from that I will give you a word of the day and you can keep repeating it and its meaning in your head. This way we can learn 100 words till the exam and that’s a good start.

 

See CAT exam is just the first step and then we have equally important XAT in probably December and then also important SNAP in January. We might have to start working on Decision making and a little bit of static and Current GK.

 

My main work starts post exam when I will make you kill it in the Group Discussions and Interviews but for that you need to show patience and clear the exam with a decent percentile. Lets aim for 95 and we can all fall somewhere close and get our dreams fulfill.

 

Job market sucks big time and getting into a college for 2 years is the best decision you can make right now. See I am doing this for free and so I need motivation from your active participation.
